While most rewards programmes want something extra from you, like a loyalty card you’ll need to jump through five hoops to redeem, Tap2Win just wants you to keep doing what you’ve been doing for years. Recharge. Buy a bundle. Sign up or upgrade and stand a chance to win cash, as well as fast food, grocery, fashion, wellness and travel vouchers, all summer long, on top of the data and airtime you were buying anyway.

What is Tap2Win?

Tap2Win is Telkom’s rewards platform. Think of it as a thank you for sticking with the network, turned into a game. When you do something that qualifies, like a recharge or a contract upgrade, you earn free plays. Every play is a chance to win, and the rewards range from airtime and data to vouchers and cash. This summer, you’re playing for your share of R500 million in cash and prizes.

Who can play?

Tap2Win is open to Telkom Mobile customers on prepaid, postpaid and hybrid. If your number is on Telkom Mobile, you can take part once you’ve made a qualifying purchase.

On another network? You can’t play just yet, but that’s an easy fix. Pick up a Telkom SIM in-store, recharge or buy a bundle of R29 or more to join and enter.

How to enter Tap2Win on prepaid

Recharge or buy a bundle worth R29 or more. Airtime or data, whichever your week needs. The R29 you’d have spent anyway is now doing double duty.
Register for Tap2Win. Verify your number and complete a quick, once-off registration with a one-time PIN. You only do this the first time.
Play and stand a chance to win. You’ll get an SMS letting you know your free plays are ready, and you could win your share of weekly prizes. Plays expire after seven days, so don’t leave them sitting there like the last samoosa everyone’s too polite to take.

How to enter Tap2Win on contract

Sign up, upgrade or buy a bundle. Take out a new contract or upgrade on a selected mobile device or SIM-only top-up contract, or buy a bundle on your account.
Register once your contract is active. Same drill as prepaid. Verify your number, complete the once-off registration, and your free plays follow. These also expire after seven days.
Play every month. You can Tap2Win every month when your debit order goes off. For once, month-end has something in it for you.

The app is the easiest of the lot. You can register and play from the same place you already check your balance. The USSD codes are handy when you’re low on data, because they don’t need a data connection to work.

What can you win?

Tap2Win rewards come in two flavours. The first keeps your phone going, so think data bundles, voice bundles and airtime. The second makes your summer even better with cash, plus fast food, grocery, fashion, wellness and travel vouchers.

Do I need to register?

Yes, but only once. Register through the My Telkom App, *180#, *123# or the Telkom website before you play, and you’re set.

Can any mobile customer join?

No. Tap2Win is only for Telkom Mobile customers. If you’re on another network, a Telkom SIM is your ticket in.

How will I know if I qualify?

You’ll get an SMS. Once you’ve made a qualifying purchase and registered, Telkom sends a message letting you know you can play, along with the details on how.

Can I give my prize to someone else?

No. Rewards and vouchers can’t be transferred, so Gogo will have to enter herself.

Can I swap a voucher for cash?

No. Vouchers can’t be exchanged for cash. They can only be used once, at selected outlets, and any balance you don’t use is forfeited. Spend it in one go. This is not the moment to be modest at the till.

Do rewards expire?

Yes. Every reward has an expiry date, and you’ll get it by SMS when the reward is issued. Once that date passes, the reward can’t be used or extended, so don’t sit on it.
